Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof likes to blast the "inexperience" of State House members, but it wasn't Speaker Leonard's chamber that recently had to re-vote on a piece of legislation, it was Meekhof's Senate...

A technical error on a House budget bill (HB4329) that provided money for Flint and the sinkhole in Macomb, among other things, had to be sent back for a re-vote after an amendment was added in the Senate that was improper, subsequently rendering the bill meaningless.

The error was not caught in time, and the bill passed the Senate...

Meekhof reportedly told members of the media he had "no excuse" for the screw up.

Bills aren't the only thing Meekhof has had trouble with lately: one of his Senators, Bert Johnson of Detroit, was indicted by a federal grand jury a couple weeks ago after he allegedly had a fake employee on the books for years...

It's unclear what Meekhof knew about the situation, if anything.

Unfortunately, Meekhof refuses to hold a hearing or a vote to amend Michigan's FOIA laws to cover the Legislature and Governor's office, a law that would help shed more light on this situation.

The same law passed the House unanimously as part of a 10 bill package...
